STRESS-FREE AND PAIN-FREE DIAGNOSTIC AND THERAPEUTIC PATHWAY

Dr Castellacci is now able to offer her patients surgical techniques that extend the scope of outpatient hysteroscopy. Office hysteroscopy represents a true bridge between diagnostic and surgical hysteroscopy, offering women a diagnostic and therapeutic pathway with no stress, no pain, no anaesthesia and no risk to their health. A gentle pathway, in which the patient is always conscious, shares and collaborates in the therapeutic process, which is now favourably applicable to many pathologies and treatments.

Office hysteroscopy: less invasive for women

Hysteroscopy office does not involve the use of traditional aggressive instruments such as anaesthesia, the use of speculum, tenaculum and other instrumentation that could make the procedure painful. The main feature of this non-invasive microsurgery is the possibility of intervening today for almost all benign pathologies already in the outpatient clinic during the observational phase, such as polyps, small fibroids, uterine synechiae, and endometrial biopsies, and are therefore treatable in the outpatient clinic with office hysteroscopy.

We speak in this case of See and Treat - seeing and treating - with obvious advantages for the woman, apart from the absence of speculum and Collins forceps, the use of saline solution for a clear view at all times even with ongoing blood loss, absence of narcosis, reduced discomfort.

When is hysteroscopy office useful

  • Vaginoscopy: Morphological control of the vagina with G.S.C. examination
  • Treatment of endocavitary neoformations such as polyps and myomas
  • Treatment of intramural iuxtacavitary myomas (G3) myolysis
  • Treatment of congenital and acquired malformative diseases (Setti-Sinechie)
  • Widening cervicoplasty
  • Tubal sterilisation (Essure)
  • Follow-up of preneoplastic lesions

LASER

FOR PAINLESS HYSTEROSCOPY

New instruments for operative hysteroscopy Dr Castellacci the only one in the region to perform laser surgery for uterine malformations and benign uterine pathologies

THE PATIENTS' WORDS

A high-tech laser device for the Villa Donatello nursing home in Florence will allow micro-invasive operations on polyps, myomas, isthmocele and uterine septum The Villa Donatello Clinic in Florence is raising the level of prevention and treatment of uterine pathologies even higher thanks to the introduction of new cutting-edge technological instruments. It is a latest-generation gynaecological surgical laser, Leonardo Dual® by Biolitec, with which the operative unit of gynaecological hysteroscopy, directed by Dr Eleonora Castellacci, has been equipped.

With the acquisition of the equipment, the unit, directed by Dr. Castellacci, becomes the only one in the region to perform laser thermo-ablation (LTA), a micro-invasive technique indicated for young patients and those with a high operating risk, which allows for multiple 'benign' uterine pathologies to be operated on without having to resort to hysteroscopic surgery with anaesthesia in the absence of intra- and post-operative pain.

With the new technique, it is possible to operate on uterine pathologies in a low-complexity day surgery regime, with great advantages for the patient, who not only avoids a complex operation (until recently a joint hysteroscopic-laparoscopic operation was proposed for uterine septum correction), but also performs it pain-free and with reduced convalescence and without taking drugs.

Uterine pathologies such as polyp, myoma, uterine septum and isthmocele are frequent benign uterine pathologies in women, affecting about 20% of women of childbearing age. When they reach a significant size, they can cause major disorders such as bleeding and persistent pain. They can be eliminated thanks to the LTA technique, which is based on the administration of laser energy with which it is possible to cut, vaporise and create a coagulative necrosis within the tissue mass, reducing its volume and thus the symptoms.

The procedure has been performed for some years now in many countries and also in some specialised centres in Italy, and as of today also in Florence by Dr Eleonora Castellacci at the Casa di Cura Villa Donatello.

The efficacy of the LTA Thermoablative Laser is based on scientific evidence.

It is a safe procedure and no serious complications have ever been recorded. It leaves no residual scar and the patient can go to work as early as the day after the procedure. Another great advantage for the woman is the particularly short operation time. Just to give an example, under normal conditions, a polyp of about 2 cm. can be removed in about 2 minutes with the LTA laser.

The result is a surgical performance of excellence, without pain and without anaesthesia for:

  • Polypectomy
  • Myomectomy
  • Histmoplasty
  • Metroplasty

Let us discover the many advantages for patients:

Clinical: the possibility of approaching pathological conditions that would otherwise be difficult to treat in an outpatient setting even quicker treatment can be carried out in the office or as day surgery option to provide complex services without patient admission reduced intra- and post-operative risks.
